Congresswoman Cindy Axne visited Indianola on Wednesday, holding a “Connect with your Congresswoman” event, her first stop in a 16-county tour of Iowa’s third congressional district. Congresswoman Axne said during the meeting with local constituents, she is focused on bringing the markets back to help support the local farmers rather than the large conglomerates.

“I introduced a bill along with Senator Grassley’s Cattle Bill, which would require most purchases to be made in the cash market and require a 14 day delivery, which helps our small farmers. Nationally it’s not real popular because our national cattle organizations and bigger producers don’t want it, but I’m here to fight for Iowa. Right now there are marketplace issues surrounding that and it’s unfair practice, so we need to fix that.”
