The Mustangs and Panthers both headed to Fairfield for a wrestling meet Friday that featured 12 schools and both squads had one of their best outings of the season as PCM finished 2nd and Knoxville right behind them at 3rd.
The Mustangs finished with 141 total points, just one shy of the winning Ottumwa wrestling squad, and had a wrestler place in nine different weight groups. This includes Colby Tool at 152 pounds and Cooper Sloan at 220 pounds winning their respective classes. Remington Fry at 106 pounds and Landon Fenton at 145 pounds managed to take silver in a stacked field of talented wrestlers.
Knoxville was just one victory shy of winning it all as they finished with 136.5 total points. While no Panther took gold, four of their own finished in 2nd: Marco Alejo at 113, Andon Trout at 138, Gavin Montalvo at 182, and Gage Rowley at 195.
Knoxville will next compete on Tuesday at Carlisle for a quad that will also feature Pleasantville. PCM currently does not have another meet on their schedule, but the Mustangs are expected to add more contests in the near future.
