The Norwalk girls basketball team was back in action for the second straight day Saturday, hosting Atlantic in non-conference action. The Warriors looked sharp yet again, and secured a 60-48 win on their home floor.
Norwalk jumped out to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter, but the Trojans kept within striking distance in the second, with the Warriors taking a 31-25 lead into the locker room. Atlantic held Norwalk to just eight points in the third quarter, but the Warriors held a slim 39-37 advantage heading into the final eight minutes. An offensive explosion in the fourth was enough to put the Trojans away, and the Warriors won their fourth straight.
Norwalk improves to 10-6 overall, and returns to action Monday at home against Pella. The Warrior girls will look to continue their climb to the top of the conference leaderboard and get revenge from a Pella victory in December. The Norwalk boys will try to hand the Dutch their first conference loss of the season in the nightcap. That girl/boy doubleheader will air on 92.1 KRLS, with pregame coverage starting at 5:45 p.m. with Jon Mohwinkle and Steve Wermerskirchen on the call.
The Norwalk boys bowling team hosted Newton at Val Lanes in West Des Moines Saturday. The Warriors placed first with a team score of 2912. Dalton Stoffel led the way with 475 total pins and a high game of 278.
Norwalk returns to action next Saturday at home against Knoxville.
