With everyone older than the age of 65 eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, Warren County Health Services is fielding an influx of calls from residents who wish to schedule a time to get vaccinated, but the limited supply of vaccines is delaying the process. Warren County Health Services Director Jodene DeVault tells KNIA News she sees the need in the community for the vaccine, and it will be distributed as quickly as they can receive shipments.
“We probably field at least 1,000 calls a week, at least. Some days between 8-11 we have 250-300 calls and we are just one provider out of seven in the county. They are anxious, seniors are anxious to get it and I understand that. They aren’t the only ones that are calling, we are still working to get law enforcement, childcare, schools, those still in tier 1. Seniors are not in a tier, they can get it anytime tier 1-5.”
DeVault also said many medical clinics are also reaching out to their patients to help coordinate the vaccines, and are vaccinating residents as soon as they can get supply.
