The Tulip City high school basketball teams are hosting a friendly competition ahead of their final clash of the winter season today.
Non-perishable food donations will be accepted to support the Backpack Program of Pella, with drop-off locations at the Pella and Pella Christian High School activities offices. The Dutch and Eagles boys and girls basketball teams are asking for microwavable macaroni and cheese cups and pasta meals, as well as granola bars, pudding cups, fruit cups, cheese and cracker packs, and other snacks meant for children, but donors are asked to avoid anything containing peanut butter.
The Backpack Program of Pella is provided by the Pella Community Food Shelf and Faith Christian Reformed Church, and supports children attending the Pella and Pella Christian elementary schools who may not have enough to eat on weekends.
The food can be dropped off during the day at both activities offices at the high schools, and at the Tulip City showdown today at Pella High School.
