Solid weekends by Mary Gray and Brock Lewis earned the Central College track and field athletes American Rivers Conference field events performers of the week recognition on Monday afternoon.

Gray was the pentathlon champion over the weekend at the Wartburg triangular with 3,476 points. Her total for the five-discipline event is currently No. 1 nationally and No. 3 in Central’s history. She also ran on the second-place 4×400-meter relay squad. It’s her second weekly league honor having also received the honor on December 10, 2017.

Lewis topped the field in the long jump (22-6.5) and triple jump (43-3.75), giving Central 14 points in the team standings. Central won the three-team meet against Wartburg College and Coe College. Lewis’s efforts are both top-10 nationally, with his long jump ranking fifth and his triple jump ranking eighth. He’s a three-time conference performer of the week honoree, most recently being recognized February 10, 2020.

Central is set to host the University of Dubuque and Nebraska Wesleyan University in a triangular this weekend. Multi-event action will be Friday at 2 p.m., followed by the rest of the meet Saturday at noon.
