It’s the penultimate doubleheader of the season this evening for the Norwalk basketball teams, as the Warriors play host to Dallas Center-Grimes in a pair of Little Hawkeye Conference tilts.

The Norwalk girls will try to bounce back from a deflating road loss to Grinnell Friday night, in which the Warriors trailed the whole way through, and were held out of contention the entire way. The Warriors are mathematically still alive for a conference title tie, but would need to win out and have both the Mustangs and Indianola lose out. It’ll be a tall task, as 3rd-ranked in 4A Dallas Center-Grimes has rattled off nine in a row, and has looked relatively unstoppable as of late. The Mustangs won the previous matchup this season 59-37 in Grimes.

It’s a rivalry renewed in the boys game, as Norwalk will look to pick up some steam headed into the Class 4A postseason. They’re coming off a 39-38 win over Grinnell Friday, in which the Warriors trailed for much of the second half before winning it in the closing seconds. Head Coach Chris Larson says his team will come out firing in this matchup.

Dallas Center-Grimes snapped a nine-game Norwalk win streak in the series with a 50-43 win earlier this season. The Mustangs enter coming off a momentous win over Pella on Friday, and look to continue their hot streak toward what they hope is a run to a conference title. Jon Mohwinkle and Denny Hanson will broadcast the action tonight on the KNIA3 stream. Pregame coverage begins at 6:00 p.m., with the opening tipoff from Norwalk High School at 6:15.
