Melcher-Dallas’ basketball teams split a Bluegrass Conference doubleheader at Orient-Macksburg as the boys won 60-29, but the girls lost 40-37.

 

The Saints’ boys got the victory, which is their fourth consecutive win and the first time they eclipsed .500 on the season. Melcher-Dallas was up 24-7 after the first quarter and never looked back. Melcher-Dallas got great performances from Ryan Krpan and Lane VanderLinden once again. Krpan led the team in scoring with 23 points. VanderLinden had 18 points and seven steals in the victory.

 

The Saints’ girls dropped their sixth consecutive game to drop below .500 for the first time since the beginning of Christmas break. This was also the fifth straight game Melcher-Dallas was without four starters. Kynser Reed led the way with 23 points and six rebounds. Brooklyn Metz led the team in rebounding as she hauled down 11 boards.
