The Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad got a win over Bondurant-Farrar 75-73 in overtime on Thursday night, heard live on 95.3 KNIA, and some history was made in the process.

With a first quarter three point shot, Kieren Nichols set a new record for most career three point shots made in Knoxville school history with his 152nd three pointer, breaking the old mark set by former Panther great Brad Davis. The game was close throughout with neither team holding a lead by more than five points. Both teams had chances to win in regulation, but an extra session was needed and Luke Keitges, who is getting a reputation of making clutch shots, added another clutch jumper.

The Panthers then forced a turnover and added a free throw. Interim Coach Matt Ritchhart told KNIA/KRLS Sports the final possession in overtime worked because everyone had a hand in sharing the ball.

Ritchhart:
“The thing I liked about it is everyone touched the ball in that possession. I think Kieren dribble penetrated, and kicked it to Noah in the left corner and hit Mike on the left wing, and sent to Luke and it was great team basketball.”

Nichols led the Panthers with 24 points, Keitges scored 15, Spencer Hixson had 16 points, and Mike Hudson put ten points on the board seven, in the fourth quarter and overtime. Knoxville improves to 12-6 on the season and will host Pella in the renewal of the Red Rock Rivalry tonight. Hear the action on both KNIA and KRLS starting with the pregame at seven.
