Pleasantville wrestling team sends two wrestlers to the state tournament at Wells Fargo Arena, while the boys basketball team will begin playoff action Monday night against Colfax-Mingo at home.
Kitt Lundy at 132 lbs and Matthew Kauffman at 285 lbs finished in the top two in their respective weight class at their home district tournament Saturday. Lundy won his second place match over Reid Molyneux of Sigourney-Keota. Kauffman won by fall over Trace Goemaat of North Mahaska to take first place at 285 lbs. Jesse Smith at 106 lbs, Tyler Gibson at 120 lbs, and Jacob Hiemstra at 152 lbs all finished fourth in their respective weight classes Saturday.
Lundy and Kauffman will compete in the state tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines Thursday morning at 9 AM.
The Trojans’ boys basketball team will be at home as they take on the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks for their first-round playoff matchup. Pleasantville finished the regular season with a 7-14 record overall, but they finished 6-1 in non-conference play, with their only loss coming to Albia. If Pleasantville wins, they will travel to Des Moines Christian to take on the Lions Thursday night.
Pleasantville’s playoff game will tip off at 6:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on the KNIA3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch on the call.
