After several records for cold impacted the region, relief is on the way.
Dangerous wind chills are still possible today — as low as 25 below zero, especially in the morning, but by the afternoon, will be approaching zero degrees.
Long-standing records for cold air were broken in Marion County, including record coldest high temperatures:
1 below zero (2/12) – previous was 0 in 1905
0 (2/13) – previous was 4 in 2020
6 below zero (2/14) – previous was 2 in 1936
2 below zero (2/15) – previous was 2 in 1958
A gradual warm up will continue throughout the week, and by the weekend, the air temperature will top 30 degrees.
