The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad will hit the road for the class 3A regional semi-final against #8 Roland-Story. The Panthers defeated Chariton on Saturday 44-33 in first round action. While the Panthers offensively took a while to get going, the defense played well all game. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports defensively the game plan will be the same, but offensively, patience will be a big virtue for the Panthers tonight.

Uitermarkt:
“The game plan is going to have to be long possessions and cut into their opportunity to score, and defensively I feel as coaches we have a good game plan, some nights are tougher than others, and this will be one of those.”

While Roland-Story does not have gaudy stats that jump out, the Norsemen have a ton of size and uses the post to its advantage with 5/11 Reagan Barkema, who averages 14.7 points per game and leads a balanced rebounding attack with 80 on the season. The Panthers are looking for their first regional final appearance since 2010, the last time they made the State Tournament. You can hear the action on 95.3 KNIA with pre game starting at 6:30 and the tip off at 7:00.
