Pella Christian was able to snap an eight-game losing streak that ended the regular season with a 49-40 win over Pekin in the Class 2A girls basketball regional playoffs, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The Eagles welcomed the Panthers in Class 2A Region 3 in the quarterfinals round, and after the teams traded the lead several times in the first half, P.C. closed the 2nd quarter on an 8-0 run that gave them an advantage they would not lose in the final 16 minutes.
Pella Christian was spurred by a 17 point performance from Sophomore Karlie Anderson, who has seen additional playing time due to injuries down the stretch run, who says she was excited to see the team come together and find a win after a difficult stretch.
Allison Van Gorp added 13 points and nine rebounds in the winning effort. Pella Christian improves to 9-13 overall and continues the postseason trail on the long trek east to No. 3 in 2A West Branch this Friday.
