After an up-and-down season, the Melcher-Dallas girls’ basketball team will look for young players next season to step up.

The Saints’ girls got a taste of what next year will be like when four starters sat due to COVID-19 contact tracing. After an 8-3 start to 2020-21, Haley Godfrey, Grace Overgaard, and Kacey and Riley Enfield had to sit out for the final seven games of the regular season since they came into contact with a player who tested positive for COVID-19 during the Bluegrass Conference Tournament. New starters for the Saints this season included freshmen Brooklyn Metz and Paetyn Anderson as well as sophomores Kasyn Reed and BrieAnna Remster.

The Saints finished the season with an 8-11 record, losing to Martensdale-St. Mary’s in the first round of the playoffs Thursday night.
