A Knoxville man has been arrested and faces multiple charges. On February 1st, a Knoxville Police officer met with an individual who was in a relationship with John Followill Jr. This individual said that Followill became angry about a phone call that the victim received. Followill then broke the victim’s phone and put his hand around the victim’s neck until it became difficult to breathe. The victim said it did not cause injuries, and Followill left the residence. A warrant was issued for Followill’s arrest.

On Tuesday, Knoxville police witnessed a man with a similar build as Followill enter a residence on N 7th Street in Knoxville. The officers knocked on the door and spoke to the tenant, who let the officers in. She told officers that no one was in the apartment, but consented to a search. Officers located a locked bedroom door, and ordered an individual inside to open the door. After several minutes of giving commands, officers kicked in the door. Followill was located inside, but hidden from the officers’ view. Followill told officers that he had a gun, and threatened to shoot and kill them. Officers deployed pepper spray in the area Followill was located, and after several minutes, he came out and laid down on the bed.

Followill struggled with officers while being handcuffed, led out of the apartment, and while being escorted into the police vehicle. While being searched, Followill pulled away and was pushed against the patrol car by officers in an effort to gain control. Followill then repeatedly banged his head on a patrol car window, and shattered the glass. Followill was transported to Knoxville Hospital & Clinics for emergency care. Officers then seized a marijuana pipe from the room Followill was in.

He faces numerous charges, including Domestic Assault, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Interference with Official Acts, and Harassment of an Officer. A pretrial conference is set for March 4th.
