With two seniors in the main rotation for the Indianola boys basketball team, the majority of the varsity minutes were filled by a large sophomore class and one junior in Cooper Nailor. The Indians will bring back leading scorer Drew Kingery who will be entering his junior season, as well as Nailor who ended the season as the squad’s second leading scorer at 10 points per contest. Indians head coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports their game against Ankeny Centennial that ended their season highlighted what his team needs to improve upon if they want to make a postseason run.
“The nice part is we do have a lot of guys returning that have a lot of experience, and a lot of them will have two more years which is a lot of fun. But what we found out playing one of the top dogs in 4A is there are a lot of things we have to work on, and we have to address those this offseason to get better to maybe get a chance to host one of these games or go a little further in the postseason than we have.”
The Indians ended the season with a 16-7 record, and a full season recap with coach Watson can be heard this Saturday on the KNIA Radio Coaches Corner.
