One of the themes for the Indianola girls basketball team this season was passing up a decent shot in favor of a better shot for a teammate.
The Indians ended the season as the top free throw shooting team in the conference, making 226 overall shots from the charity stripe and shooting an astounding 71.3%, and had an effective field goal percentage of 48.7%. Indians head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports his team’s chemistry was what made them go to the next level.
“A year ago, a month ago, maybe even a couple weeks ago we would have settled for three point shots. We would have settled for the first ok look, and we are not settling for the first great look. This is what we need to do, against teams like Grinnell, against Oskaloosa, against everybody.”
The Indians ended the season with an 18-5 record, and graduated just one senior.
