Local football teams now know their district opponents for the next several years, as the Iowa High School Athletic Association has released the districts for the upcoming 2021 and 2022 football seasons, with major changes for local schools due to the new class 5A classification.
Indianola, Pella, and Norwalk are all now classified as 4A schools.
Pella is in District 4 with, Cedar Rapids Washington, Clear Creek-Amana, Newton, Oskaloosa, and Cedar Rapids Xavier.
Warren County rivals Indianola, Carlisle and Norwalk are paired together in District 5 with Bondurant-Farrar, Boone, and Perry.
Knoxville remains in class 3A paired with teams in the western portion of the state in District 6 with ADM, Atlantic, Creston, Harlan, and Saydel.
PCM continues to be classified as 2A, and will have a change in opponents compared to the last several years in District 7 with rival Albia and Chariton, with Iowa Falls-Alden, Roland-Story, and West Marshall
Pleasantville and Pella Christian will keep their rivalry alive in class 1A, both paired in District 6 along with Cardinal, Central Decatur, Sigourney-Keota, and Van Buren County.
Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars will be paired together in 8-man District 7 with Baxter, BGM Brooklyn, Grand View Christian, Montezuma, and Woodward Academy.
While Martensdale-St. Mary’s and Southeast Warren are paired together in 8-man District 8 with Lamoni, Moravia, Mormon Trail, Murray, and Seymour.
