The City of Knoxville will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Iowa flag with an event on Monday, March 29th at the library. The flag was designed by Knoxville native Dixie Gebhart. T. Waldmann-Williams is part of the organizing committee, and says Knoxville’s event will begin with an official proclamation and musical performance.

“At 3:00 on Monday, March 29th, Mayor Hatch will read and sign a proclamation naming the week on behalf of the 100th anniversary. A small ensemble from Knoxville High School is going to perform the official Iowa song, as well as one that was officially written just for the flag.” The event will be at the Knoxville Public Library.

A proclamation will also take place that day at the state capitol in Des Moines with Governor Kim Reynolds. Tune into today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville to learn more about events taking place to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Iowa state flag.
