The COVID-19 pandemic cancelled all of high school spring sports last year, but one sport that may have been cancelled but kids could still get out and work on their game was golf. Many of the local courses were open during the pandemic and Knoxville Golf Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS many of his kids on both girls and boys squads were able to play a round even though they were not in any competition.
Smith:
“That was one of the few activities that people could still do, and we fortunately had some girls play a round and it feels good as a coach to see the girls work on their games, and they’re chomping at the bit to get out there and compete.”
Senior Amy Sullivan will return as she was a state qualifier in 2019. Smith adds sophomore Nikolle Kussatz and junior Isabella Day-Suhr return and he hopes freshman Faith Roozeboom can add to an already solid line up for the Panthers. Knoxville’s first meet is on the road April 5th at Carlisle.
