This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Iowa. As spring begins, now is the time to have plans in place for severe weather events such as severe thunderstorms, tornados, flash flooding, high winds, and other hazards. Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says people can get the best, most up to date information from KNIA/KRLS.
“People can inform themselves. Our news media does a great job saying ‘This is a potential, this coming.’ They work with the National Weather Service. If Warren County is having high winds east of Indianola. If that’s headed our direction, local media outlets are a great source to get that information.”
KNIA/KRLS will provide Severe Weather Action Team coverage anytime a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for any portion of Marion or Warren Counties. Tune into a special severe weather awareness program Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. on KNIA/KRLS for an interview with Sandholdt and other local officials.
