For new PCM boys golf coach Mike Cardin, emphasis will be on putting and finishing holes strong for 2021.
The Mustangs returned to the course for practice this week for the first time since 2019 after last season was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cardin is coming over after coaching in Ottumwa for 26 years, and looks to add to his resume coaching for PCM. Cardin tells KNIA Sports that putting is going to be the key to the team’s success.
“My success in being a coach is helping develop their short game. That’s not something that’s a lot of fun to work with and a lot of people don’t know how to go about that. We are going to focus for a couple of weeks on short game drills, because that is where you score.”
PCM’s first golf meet of the season is April 6 when they travel to Lynnville-Sully.
