Four Knoxville Panthers sports will make their 2021 spring debuts this afternoon after not playing at all last year. Boys and girls golf will travel to Osceola to take on Clarke and West Central Valley in a triangular. Both teams this season are being coached by Barry Smith, who says the boys are talented but inexperienced in tournaments while the girls bring back a good amount of experience in meets. Girls tennis will try to make it two matches in two meets to start the season over Little Hawkeye Conference teams when the Panthers travel to Pella today after knocking off Norwalk on Tuesday. Girls track will run in its season opener at Clarke today and Boys tennis will open up the season at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts against North Polk. Coach Perry Bell tells KNIA/KRLS Sports while he has a talented group at the top of his line up he hopes some of his younger players can make some noise as well.
Bell:
“Couple of the young guys I’d like to mention here. Joe Ferguson is getting his serves in. Caleb Murra, Connor Leslie, and David Metcalf, are just some of the guys that no one has heard of yet.”
The top of the line up for the Panthers will be top heavy with talent and experience led by senior Gabe Matthias. The Comets will come in stinging a bit after falling to Pella on Tuesday 11-0.
