The Indianola boys tennis team won their first matchup of the season hosting Urbandale Monday afternoon, winning 8-3. The Indians got wins in the singles matchups from:

#4 Jackson Becker
#5 Drake Downard
#6 Casey Daughenbaugh

And the doubles squads of:

#2 McGraw/Becker
#3 Downard/Daughenbaugh
#4 Logan Darrah/Sam Thessen
#5 Nick Jensen/Brant Gicante

Senior Matt Wadle plays one of the top singles matchups for the squad, and tells KNIA Sports this season was a new experience with just so many new athletes on the team.

“We had to spend a lot more time figuring out the lineup for this season. Most years we’ve had like 6-8 guys that have been solid for a varsity spot but coming in this year we only had two up at the top and besides that it was all new. So it was pretty interesting.”

The Indians boys tennis squad will next compete today hosting North Polk.

The Indians girls tennis team fell to Urbandale 9-2, and travel to North Polk today.

The Indians boys soccer squad fell to Des Moines Hoover 2-0 to begin their season. Senior goalkeeper Elijah Trotter had 15 saves in the contest. They will next play Pella this evening.
