The Pella Christian Girls Tennis team opened the 2021 season with a win, traveling to Albia and earning a 10-1 victory Monday.
The Eagles earned singles wins from Megan Kramer, Kelly Van Wyk, Adrienne Vander Molen, Katy Roose, Sydney Van Arendonk, and Claire Vander Molen.
Pella Christian is 1-0 and hosts Centerville this afternoon.

Eagles Girls Soccer Falls in Opener to Des Moines Christian
The Eagles girls soccer team opened against traditional foe Des Moines Christian, but fell 4-1. Head Coach Mike Buchheit says the Lions found their first goal two minutes in and didn’t look back.
“We have a lot of new girls not only playing varsity, but starting on varsity. 7 of the 11 girls had never played a high school game and in one case a starter played their first official game of soccer.”
Katherine Wielard scored her first career varsity goal, assisted by Ellie Brouwer, and goalie Lydia Zylstra tallied 12 saves. The 0-1 Eagles host Ottumwa at the Pella Soccer Complex this evening at 5:30.

P.C. Boys Fall to 1-1 in Albia
Pella Christian’s boys soccer team was shutout 4-0 on the road to Albia. They look to bounce back this evening at home against traditional Little Hawkeye Conference powerhouse Norwalk at 5:30.
