Pella Tennis Teams Win Competitive Matches with Boone
The Pella tennis teams continued their strong starts to the spring, with the boys and girls sweeping Boone — the Dutch boys 10-1 at home and the Lady Dutch 9-2 on the road Monday.
At home, it was a highly competitive matchup between No. 3 in 1A Pella and No. 5 in 1A Boone, and Head Coach Josiah Brandt says the senior-heavy Toreadors gave his team a huge early-season test and learning experience.
COACH JOSIAH BRANDT POST-BOONE:
Pella swept the singles round with Jack Edwards, Vaughn Thompson, Lucas Heap, Caleb Briggs, Jack Briggs, and Geordie Laidlaw all earning hard-fought Ws.
On the road, the Lady Dutch had two key set three tiebreaker wins from Emily Blom in No. 1 singles and Blom and Alloree Else in No. 1 doubles. Else, Allie Singer, Jade Chapman, and Willa Kelpe all earned singles victories.
Pella’s boys and girls remain undefeated — the Lady Dutch are off until a conference match with Grinnell Tuesday, while the boys return Friday in a makeup invitational at Johnston.
