Several Norwalk sports teams were in action Tuesday.
Girls Soccer Wins Thriller at Pella
The girls soccer team traveled to Pella for its Little Hawkeye Conference opener, and picked up a 3-2 sudden death penalty kick victory. The Warriors came back from a 2-1 second half deficit to send the match into overtime tied at 2. After no scoring occurred in the first or second overtime periods, the match went to penalty kicks. The teams traded goals, end ended the first penalty kick session with a 4-4 tie. In sudden death, the Warriors blocked a Pella kick and scored a goal, earning Norwalk the victory. Head Coach Andrew Messer says it came down to which team wanted it more.
Norwalk improves to 2-0 on the season and returns home to take on Southeast Polk Thursday.
Boys Soccer Falls to Pella in Overtime
The boys soccer team played host to Pella, but had the opposite result. The teams went to overtime tied at 1, but a Pella goal ended it in sudden death. Norwalk drops to 2-3 overall and will head to an invitational at West Des Moines Valley Friday.
Girls Tennis Puts together quality performances in victory over Grinnell
The girls tennis team traveled to Grinnell and picked up a 7-4 victory. Singles winners included Samantha Aagard, Ava Johnson, and Charlee Peters. Doubles winners were Dammeier/Johnson; Aagard/ Peters; Larson/Dehmer; and Atha-Abbott/Bakley. Norwalk returns to action Thursday at Ballard.
Boys Tennis Squeaks Past Grinnell
The boys tennis team picked up a 6-5 victory in a home match against Grinnell. The 3 and 4 doubles victories secured the narrow win. The Warriors are back home Thursday to take on Ballard.
Girls Golf earns Road Win over Grinnell, crowns individual champion
The girls golf team picked up a 206-291 road victory over Grinnell. Norwalk’s Emi Juergens shot a 47 to win individual honors. The team returns to action Monday at Winterset.
