Today is the last chance for track and field athletes to qualify for the Drake Relays, and the Tulip City teams are in action at different sites. The Pella Christian girls and boys are joining the Lady Dutch in Knoxville, while the Pella boys will send their top varsity athletes to Waukee.

One group that has already qualified for the Relays on April 22nd is the 4×100 relay from the Pella High School girls, who broke the Blue Standard with a time of 49.9 seconds, 2nd fastest in the entire state. Click here to listen to an interview with that group, who was featured on this week’s KNIA/KRLS Radio Sports Page, airing every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. on 92.1 KRLS.

Athletes who do not meet the Blue Standard times or distances in track and field events need to be among the Top 16 to 48 athletes or relays based on qualifying times on Varsity Bound, depending on the event.
