If fans did not know any better Saturday night at the 68th Annual Season Opener at the Knoxville Raceway, the World of Outlaws were in town as heard on KNIA. That was partially right as the Saturday Outlaws show was cancelled Friday morning due to rain, so Parker Price-Miller, Carson Macedo, Aaron Reutzel, Mason Daniel, and Sheldon Haudenschild all came to help the raceway open up the season, and just like any outlaw racer would do, it was Haudenschild who stole the $5,000 first prize with a last lap pass on Gio Scelzi to win his first career race at Knoxville, joining his legendary father Jac on the winner’s list. In the 360s, Jamie Ball led from start to finish to claim his first win for his new team. He told KNIA/KRLS Sports after going through some tough times during the offseason, he decided to go for broke and start from scratch.

Ball:
“Sometimes things in life changes and God put the right people in your life. I can’t say enough about these guys, my dad and I own every penny of this and I’ve leveraged a lot of things to get to this place and we have a few small sponsors but it’s mostly family.

His fiancée’s family also allowed hum to use the 4W number, which was a family number for over two decades when they raced in Texas.

In the Pro Sprints, Tyler Groenendyk, who has not raced full time at Knoxville in nearly four seasons, made a late pass on a restart to claim his first career win at Knoxville. Week two of the season is Saturday as all three sprint car classes will be in action. Our coverage begins at 5:00 with Live Track Side and 7:00 with Race Nights Live.
