PCM Girls Track Finish Fifth in Meet at Roland-Story
PCM’s girls’ track team finished fifth at Roland-Story Thursday night behind the host, Norwalk, Gilbert, and North Polk.
The Mustangs had three second-places finishes, including two individual events and one team event. Drake Relay Qualifier Margo Chipps finished second in the two individual events, which were the 100 and 200 meter dashes. PCM also finished second in the 400 meter shuttle hurdle relay, which was run by Belle Hudnut, Kate Mclellen, Eliana Buswell, and Avery Houser. Celeste Wagaman finished third in the high jump.
The Mustangs will be back in action Monday for a home meet at 4:30 PM.
PCM Soccer Shut Out for Third Straight Match, Lose Fourth Straight
For the third match in a row, PCM’s soccer team was shut out as they fell to Central Iowa United for the second time this year, 3-0.
The loss was the Mustangs’ fourth straight, dropping them to 1-6 on the season. This was also the second time this season PCM lost to Central Iowa United, as they have been outscored in the two games 8-2. Coach Darin Telfer tells KRLS Sports that the struggles the team faces is due to the lack of experience on the team.
“Youth and lack of experience has been key. We have a lot of football players, cross country kids, and the fall is when there are a lot of extra soccer kids and there are so many hours. They are going out and putting the grind in and I haven’t heard anybody screaming at each other.”
Telfer also states that his team squandered opportunities to put goals on the board throughout the game Thursday night. PCM will look to break their losing streak Monday when they travel to Chariton. The match will begin at 7:30 pm.
