Pleasantville Girls Golf Second, Boys Golf Third in Home Triangular with Conference Opponents

Pleasantville’s golf squads competed in a triangular at home with two conference powerhouses and the girls came out second while the boys finished third.

The Trojans’ girls finished with a total score of 211, six strokes ahead of Des Moines Christian and 30 strokes behind Van Meter. All of Pleasantville’s golfers finished with scores almost identical to each other. Kristen Roe and Brianna Benge each finished with a 52, tied for fifth individually. Madison May was third on the team in scoring with a 53.

Pleasantville’s boys shot a score of 191, 16 strokes behind Van Meter and 25 behind Des Moines Christian. Three golfers posted scores of 50 or lower. The Trojans were led by Carter Ollom, who shot a 43. Freshman Jaxx Lovell was second on the team with a 46 and Jake Hiemstra had a 50.

Both teams will be back in action for another coed home triangular with conference opponents Ogden and Panorama Tuesday. The meet will begin at 4:00 PM.

Pleasantville Girls Track Sixth at Baxter, Boys Track Ninth at Martensdale-St. Mary’s

Both of Pleasantville’s track teams competed for the first time in a week as the girls finished sixth in their meet at Baxter while the boys finished ninth with Martensdale-St. Mary’s.

The Trojans’ girls finished with three top-two finishes in their meet, including two individual events and one team event. Madilyn Rowson finished second in the 200 meter dash. Pleasantville’s only first-place finish came from Kaylee Hodenfield, who finished at the top in shot put. The one team event the Trojans placed second in was in the Distance Medley, which was run by Adi Adreon, Hailey Klein, Rowson, and Hailee McCormick.

Pleasantville’s boys finished with one top-two finish in their meet at Martensdale-St. Mary’s, which came from Matthew Kauffman in shot put. The Trojans finished with 22 points, three ahead of Interstate-35 and four behind the host.

The Trojans’ girls will be back in action for a meet at PCM Monday while the boys will travel to Mount Ayr Tuesday. Both meets will begin at 4:30 PM.
