It has been an adventurous couple of weeks for Austin McCarl at the Knoxville Raceway. Last week, he finished 3rd after having to repair the car after crashing in his heat race. This Saturday he was able to step up two rungs on the ladder to 1st place taking advantage of Brian Brown’s engine failure on lap six of the 410 A-Main as heard on KNIA. McCarl was never challenged after that and said it was extremely satisfying winning in his own car.

McCarl:
“Just to do this in my own 17A really means a lot to win a 410 A here. I do everything on this car, I’m the only one who touches it, except Billy who helped with tires tonight, but I’m really proud of myself, I’ve been wanting this for a long time.”

In the 360s, Josh Higday has been a veteran at the Knoxville Raceway for years, and won for the first time in 11 years as he took the lead at the midway point and cruised to the win.

Matthew Stelzer, who is running for wins in the Pro Sprints this season, led from start to finish in that class. More racing is set for this Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway. KNIA will have complete coverage at Live Track Side at 5:00 and Race Nights Live at 7:00.
