The City of Knoxville will begin its third annual “Operation Clean Sweep” later this month. Community Service Officer Meredith Clark with the Knoxville Police Department says this program is intended to address issues commonly seen with properties in the city.

“The mission of this project is to raise awareness about the negative effects of blight properties on our community. Operation Clean Sweep is designed for our code enforcement officers to visit every property in Knoxville to check for code violations ranging from yards needing mowed, vehicles parked in yards, houses that need to be painted. An entire list of nuisances can be found on the city website.”

Officers will conduct a brief evaluation of the front yards of properties, and a flyer will be posted listing any violations found. The program will begin Monday, May 17th and run through mid July. Learn more about this program on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
