The Tulip City rivalry renewed on the tennis courts at Eagle Lane went to the home team in a close dual, as No. 6 ranked Pella Christian edged the No. 5 Lady Dutch 6-5 Wednesday evening.
Pella had the edge following singles 4-2, with wins from Emily Blom, Alloree Else, Amelia Poe, and Jade Chapman in a tiebreaker, while the Eagles nabbed victories with Katy Roose and Sydney Van Arendonk.
Pella Christian won three set tiebreakers in the doubles matches and a win from Greta Kelderman and Anna Bonnett in the No. 5 spot to claim victory. Willa Kelpe and Demrie Vander Leest found the lone Lady Dutch win in the pairs matches.
The dual meet between the Tulip City girls tennis teams marked the end of the 2021 tennis regular season, as both boys and girls schools from the Little Hawkeye Conference will participate in the league tournaments Monday, which will be followed by district and regional team and individual meets in the coming weeks.
