The Indianola girls tennis team ended the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season undefeated with a 9-2 victory over Norwalk on senior day Thursday afternoon. The Indians dominated in singles play, with Paige Bily, Melina Darrah, Aubree Freshly, Hannah Price, and Hayden Laschanzky picking up wins, while the pairings of Darrah/Anna Jordan, Laschanzky/Kaelyn Kindelspire, Price/Audri Hilton, and Carmen Christensen/Brynn Bishop winning to secure the victory. The Indians end the conference season at 5-0, and are 8-3 overall.
The Indians boys tennis team won 7-4 over county rival Norwalk. The Indians got wins in singles from Drake Downard, Logan Hageman, and Casey Daughenbaugh, while the pairings of Lane/McGraw, Daughenbaugh/Jake Gioffredi, Nick Jensen/Sam Thessen, and Nathan Barth/Evan Baker. The Indians are 4-1 in conference play and 8-3 overall, and end up in the conference standings in second place, their best finish since joining the LHC. Both Indians tennis teams will next compete at Grinnell for the Little Hawkeye Conference tournament on Monday.
Jaiden Wallander won meet medalist honors at the Corky Nydle Invitational in Ottumwa Thursday morning, as the Indians earned a second place finish. Wallander led all golfers shooting a 96, with Kinzey Johnston and Bella Parker also finishing in the top five with scores of 111 and 112. Wallander tells KNIA Sports the Indians short prep time may have affected them at the beginning of the season, but they are starting to play really well as of late. The Indians will next golf in the Little Hawkeye Conference meet on Monday.
The Indians boys soccer team fell to Creston on the road 3-1. Junior forward Sage Chapman scored the lone goal for the Indians, with the assist by Elijah Trotter. The Indians are now 2-9 and host Winterset tonight for senior night.
