The Indianola City Council approved the final reading on amending the city code to convert the traffic on the downtown Indianola square and surrounding streets from one-way to two-way at their meeting Monday. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the conversion was part of the feedback returned by a focus group and other community members, and will be put in place next week.
“The target date for making the change is May 17th. So Buxton and Howard will convert to two-way and then around the square. And then along with that we will make several intersections four-way stops and making several four-way stops on the square as well.”
The city is putting up signs on the square and surrounding area to inform residents of the change, as well as traffic signs that will be covered and not go into effect until May 17th.
