Huisman is two inches shy of Nick DeJong’s 2019 Shot Put record of 60-5, and currently has the furthest throws in Iowa in both competitions heading into the district meet, regardless of classification.

On Thursday, area track and field athletes will compete for the chance to qualify for state at the district meets; Pella and Knoxville return to the Tulip City and Pella High School for Class 3A, PCM and Pella Christian both travel to Class 2A West Marshall, while Norwalk heads to Waukee in 4A.
