The Knoxville Police Department will hold a Police Week ceremony today outside the department’s office. Chief Aaron Fuller says it’s an opportunity for citizens to understand the operations of the department and policing in general.

“It may help people better understand what it is that we do throughout the day. Sometimes I don’t think people really understand what we do. Most do, but some don’t. I think it’ll be a good learning experience for those who have never been in our shoes or our families’ shoes.”

The event begins at 11:00 a.m. at the Knoxville Police Department. Refreshments will be provided.
