In a rematch from the regular season opener, the Pella Christian girls soccer team is aiming to get one step closer to the program’s first state tournament appearance.
In order to do so, the Eagles will have to upset No. 7 Des Moines Christian in Urbandale. Pella Christian fell to the Lions 4-1 in the first game of 2021.
Head Coach Mike Buchheit believes his Eagles have come a long way from a two-year layoff and a team full of fresh faces in early April.
Buchheit shared with the girls that night that “the Lions got a pass on us tonight but I can assure you that at the end of the season we will be ready to match their level of play.”
The all-time series is tied at four-apiece between the relatively new girls soccer teams, with game number nine determining who advances to the final 16 in Class 1A.
First kick between Pella Christian and Des Moines Christian is at 6 p.m. in Urbandale.
