Pleasantville’s baseball squad came away with a victory at Earlham 5-0 while the softball squad came up just short against Earlham as they lost 5-4; Breanna Benge finished 18th in the first round of the state tournament up in Ames.

The Trojans’ baseball team got a spectacular performance from Jake DeJoode as he pitched 6.2 innings of shutout baseball, giving up just four hits and striking out ten batters. Ben Wicks led the way for Pleasantville as he had an RBI triple in the victory.

The Trojans’ softball squad fell behind early and failed to make up ground throughout the course of the night. Beka Dyer went two for four while Riley Thill went three for five with an RBI and a run scored. Faith Vanderhart went one for four with an RBI single and gave up five runs on eight hits in the loss. Pleasantville now stands at 2-6 on the season.

Benge shot a 91, which was just three shots outside of the top ten. Benge will end her golf career with a state tournament appearance in her final year. This concludes the season for Pleasantville’s girls golf squad.

Pleasantville’s baseball squad will be back in action for a matchup at Melcher-Dallas tonight while the softball team will continue conference play at Van Meter. Both games will begin at 7:00 PM.
