The Knoxville Food Youth Initiative is bringing back its summer meal program. Free breakfast and lunch will be served Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from today through August 7th to youth ages 18 and under. Board President Verlin Goodyk says this program is about serving the future leaders of the community.
“The youth are the upcoming foundation of what we have in our community. We’re under the assumption that the more the children can eat, the better they can do their work and study. Some kids go through summer school, and we feed them there as well. It’s a program designed to help children so we don’t have children going hungry.
There are no income requirements, no sign up requirements, and no questions asked. Pickup locations will be available in Knoxville, Pleasantville, Melcher-Dallas and Bussey. Hear more about the program on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
