The Knoxville Police Department is holding a Kids Fishing Day Saturday at the pond at Marion County Park. Parents are invited to bring their children out to enjoy a morning of fishing, with instruction and assistance provided if necessary. Chief Aaron Fuller says this event is to help create a positive relationship with law enforcement, and to get kids interested in outdoor activities.

“We’ll have officers out there who are fishing with the kids. It’s a community event to get us out there in front of kids so kids see us as the humans and community members that we are, to build those relationships. But it’s also to get kids interested in fishing and being outdoors.”

Poles and bait will be provided, but families are welcome to bring their own. Fishing begins at 8:00 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:00. Registration will take place upon arrival.
