The Knoxville Boys and Girls of Summer had two very different outcomes last night as the baseball squad fell to class 3A #4 Gilbert 11-0 while the softball squad knocked off Bondurant-Farrar 5-4 with the baseball game live on 95.3 KNIA. Knoxville fell behind early allowing Gilbert two runs in the 1st and 2nd innings and Knoxville was unable to recover. Niko Lacona took the loss going just one inning allowing three hits and four runs while striking out one. Carson Uitermarkt, Dakota Ramsey, and Luke Spaur each contributed in relief for Knoxville. Coach Tuner Devore told KNIA/KRLS Sports that while his team lost by a lopsided score, he felt they improved in several areas.

Devore:
“I thought we had a little more sense of urgency. I thought hitting-wise we were a little better. Overall I came out positive about this game, we don’t ever want to get 10-runed but I thought we did a lot of things better tonight.”

Evan Eck went 2/2 at the plate to lead Knoxville. The Panthers fall to 3-7 on the season. Meanwhile in Bondurant, the Knoxville Softball Squad jumped out to a 4-0 lead and had to hold on for a 5-4 victory over the Blue Jays last night. Ciara Heffron had just one hit on the night, but her hit would prove big as she uncorked a homer which provided the needed margin. Emma Dunkin was 2/3 Ashlyn Finarty was 2/4 while Hannah Dunkin went 2/2 with an RBI. Finarty also got the win in the circle going the distance allowing four runs on ten hits, striking out four and walking just one. Knoxville is now 8-3 on the season and both baseball and softball squads will host Albia tonight. The softball game can be heard live on 95.3e KNIA at 7:15.
