PCM softball hosted the #7 ranked team in Class 3A Roland Story and pulled off the upset 10-5. The Mustang baseball squad traveled to Clarke where they were unable to hold off the Indians, falling 13-11.
Coming off a tough loss Wednesday, the Mustangs bounced back on the softball diamond scoring three runs in the first inning to take the lead. From there PCM would control the contest, maintaining the lead the rest of the way. Paige Steenhoek collected the win in the circle by letting the defense work. Eight different Mustangs recorded putouts in the game. Belle Hudnut tallied four RBIs in two recorded at bats and RaeAnn Duinink had a two RBI single in the 6th to add insurance for her squad. Despite still being a young team, Head Coach Shaun Hudnut has been pleased with how the experience of the underclassman has pushed this team to get better.
Following two innings of action PCM found themselves up 3-2 on the baseball diamond, before an offensive outburst in the third pushed the Mustang lead to 11-2. Clarke refused to go down without a fight scraping their way back into a tie game in the bottom of the fifth. The Indians would then take the lead the following inning and hang on in the seventh to defeat PCM 13-11.
