Melcher-Dallas’ softball and baseball squads came away with victories in a clean sweep of Bluegrass Conference rival Seymour as the softball team won 6-1, while the baseball team won 27-13.
The Saints’ softball squad were locked in a pitchers’ duel for most of the game until a five-run fifth inning helped Melcher-Dallas pull away. Haley Godfrey had a two-run double for insurance during the fifth. BrieAnna Remster pitched a complete game, allowing just one hit and one run while striking out 14. The win puts Melcher-Dallas at 13-3 on the season.
The Saints’ baseball squad showed incredible patience at the plate as they issued 18 walks in the game. Another big difference was the fact that Melcher-Dallas scored 21 of their 27 runs in the second inning. Owen Mann had one hit, two walks, and five RBIs. Owen Suntken finished two for three with three walks, two runs scored, and three RBIs. The win improves Melcher-Dallas to 6-4 on the season.
