Pleasantville’s softball squad opened the Woodward-Granger tournament on the wrong side of the scoreboard Friday night as they lost to Lewis Central 5-4.

In a back-and-forth affair, Lewis Central scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fourth, and Pleasantville failed to match it in the final innings. Amber McKinney was two for four on the night with two RBIs. Faith Vanderhart went two for three with an RBI and pitched four innings, giving up five runs on seven hits. The loss puts Pleasantville at 7-12 on the season.

The Woodward-Granger Tournament continues today for the softball squad as their next game will be against Perry. First pitch is at 2:00 PM. The Trojans’ baseball squad also begins tournament play today as they travel to Colo-Nesco to take on Gladbrook-Reinbeck.
