Pleasantville’s softball and baseball squad suffered tough losses at the hands of Van Meter with the softball team losing 9-5, while the baseball team losing 6-1.

The Trojans’ baseball squad only muster three hits against the #1 in Class 2A Eagles. One of them was the second home run of the season for Aaron Wilkins, which came in the fifth inning. Wilkins also reached safely in all four of his at-bats. The loss will drop Pleasantville to 7-11 on the season.

The Trojans’ softball squad were unable to overcome a five-run fourth inning, which proved to be the difference in the game. Of Pleasantville’s 11 hits, four were extra bases. Amber and Malorie McKinney each went two for four with a double and an RBI. Faith Vanderhart picked up the loss on the mound, but also had two hits and an RBI. Pleasantville currently stands at 9-13 on the season after the loss.

Both the softball and the baseball squads will be back in action today. They will take a break from conference play and square off with Sigourney. The doubleheader will begin with the baseball game starting at 5:30.
