The Quilt of Valor organization will present quilts to local veterans today at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center. Curt Froyen with the American Legion says the goal of the organization is to give a quilt to every single veteran.
“The organization started a number of years ago with the idea of trying to provide a quilt for every veteran. So far, about 275,000 quilts have been produced by women all over this country and presented at ceremonies like the one we’re having.”
Locally, the organization is moving on to those who served during the Vietnam War era.. This ceremony begins at 2:00 this afternoon at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center, and is open to the public.
