indianola-3

The Indianola softball team won their 17th straight game Wednesday evening dispatching Grinnell 5-0, while the baseball squad fell to the Tigers 5-1.

The Indians baseball team battled strong with the Tigers through the first three and a half innings with the score tied at one apiece, before Grinnell broke through scoring a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a lead they would not relinquish. Offense was hard to come by for the Indians, as Kael Kolarik scored the lone run after stealing third and the throw going into left field. The Indians fall to 17-7 on the season, and face off with Oskaloosa tonight for a doubleheader. Game two can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at approximately 7:15pm.

The Indianola softball team got ahead early 2-0 after scoring on an error and an RBI single from Macie Mays, but that would be the only runs the Indians would be able to push across the plate until the seventh inning when the Indians exploded for five hits and got RBI hits from Mara Bishop and Selia Becker. Kate Kralik was near untouchable in the pitching circle, allowing just three hits and striking out 12 in the complete game victory. Head coach Stacy Evans tells KNIA Sports the season continues to be a grind, and the most important part for her team is to come away from every contest with something more they can bring towards the end of the season.

Kylee Tucker and Mays both had three hits in the contest. Indianola is now 25-3 on the season and 13-1 in conference play, and will also match up with Oskaloosa for a doubleheader this evening.
