Another step has been taken in the process of the Knoxville VA campus redevelopment. Interim City Manager Heather Ussery says a 28E agreement with Marion County has been finalized, which will allow the city and county to jointly work toward the goal.

“This is an agreement that we’ve been working on for the past year and a half since the county acquired the property. It was nice to see that come to a close as we approved it Monday. This 28E agreement will outline the responsibilities for the county and city. For the county, it will be the financing, demolition and site prep. For the city, it will be the management of the redevelopment in accordance with the master plan, as well as the TIF payments and how those will be calculated.”
